There are some other variations for the "Las
Vegas Poker & Blackjack" game. Here are a few that you may have
seen. They include box variations, tray styles, & cart
variants.
 |
Plastic Tray
Box
This is the
cart tray that most people will have. It was the original
version of the Poker game & by far the best design. There
are two finger-slots on the sides for easy cart removal. The
plastic tray provides an excellent source of protection for
the most common of all games. In later tray versions, you will
notice that the plastic is thinner. This is probably due to
cost cuts in production. |
 |
Fold-Down Cut-Out
Slot
This is the
Fold-down design tray. It is probably the rarest of the tray
designs. I have never seen it on a Mattel, or INTV box. This
one is from the Digiplay Poker box. The cart fits snugly in
the cardboard slot. There are two finger slots cut out at the
top & bottom. Very unusual ! |
 |
Cut-Out finger Slot
This is the
same design as the original plastic tray box, but without the
plastic. The cardboard has been folded under the cart &
the finger holes are smaller. This was done to eliminate the
plastic tray. Another ploy to cut cost on production. You will
not see these too often. |
 |
Flap-Style cart slot
When INTV
started producing the Intellivision games, they were cutting
costs anywhere they could! The simple flap box design might
have seemed like a good idea....(yeah right). The cart fits in
the center slot with a special slot for the instructions.
These boxes get tore up very easily. Be careful
! |

Original Poker
back
This is the
back of the original Poker box. It is most likely the same as
the one in your collection. Look below to see some of the
different types of backs that are also out
there. |
 |
International Poker
back
In the International
version of the Poker box, the back is missing all text.
Instead, there are two slots which hold the international
instructions. The English version of the instructions will be
inside. This was done so that the game could be dispersed
worldwide in the same fashion. |
 |
INTV Poker
back
The INTV flap style box
has the same back as does the original box. The differences
are in the outlines & borders. Where the original has
them, the flap box does not. (Saving on Ink as
well?) |
Some more Interesting
Variations of Poker
 |
Insert
Line
Notice the line on
the cart that tells you where to insert to? Well, on the
original Poker & Blackjack cart, there was no such line.
It is beleived to be the only game cart that does not
have this. The original cart is on the left
side. |
 |
Cart
Variants
A really weird thing
I noticed was on some of my Digiplay game carts. The plastic
casing shell is actually brown! Did the Digimed/ Digiplay
company use a different type of plastic during production?
Look at the INTV poker next to the Digiplay
cart. |
